EVENTS VAN ANDEL INSTITUTE PUBLIC LECTURE SERIES: A FOCUS ON PARKINSON’S DISEASE Van Andel Institute’s Public Lecture Series: A Focus on Parkinson’s Disease took place in December, and highlighted the Institute’s groundbreaking Parkinson’s research. The event featured presentations by Van Andel Research Institute (VARI) scientists, Dr. Vivane Labrie, assistant professor in the Center for Neurodegenerative Science (CNS); and Dr. Wouter Peelaerts, a postdoctoral fellow working in the CNS; as well as a Q&A session with the speakers and Dr. Patrik Brundin, the Institute's associate director of research and director of the CNS. Guests learned about the Institute’s groundbreaking study that links the appendix to Parkinson’s, as well as insights into how drug repurposing might improve Parkinson’s treatments in the future.
